Doing deals in darkness is the antithesis of democracy. If you allow this to happen, you allow this type of thing to happen more regularly because there's precedent. You, personally, might not be affected by this, but allowing this to happen increasing the chances that one day something similar will happen to you. Fight for transparency. Fight for democracy.
