I can appreciate that properties sometimes need to be repurposed, rezoned and even demolished in cases where it is deemed unsafe and irreparable. That said, an MZO that completely bypasses local planning and demolition starting rapidly without any notice or public consultation is clearly unacceptable. The people making these decisions don't live in the city/neighbourhood and cannot pass judgement on historical significance or weigh in knowledgeably on proper land use for the community. This is literally why community consultation is baked into the process. This needs to change.
