The Ford government has given itself far too much power with zoning orders overriding responsible planning, public consultations and input, environmental protections and heritage protection and preservation. The government should not be able to retroactively change the terms on an MZO without notice or consultation or due process. Public notice must be given and the public deserve to be a part of decisions that affect their neighbourhoods, greenspace and the greenbelt, designated heritage buildings and their local communities and cities. Municipalities should be seen as partners in these decisions and should not be excluded or overridden and need to have a say in any site plan control and site plan matters. These changes are a wanton disregard for due process and are completely unnecessary.
