Species that should be included in the list:
Garlic mustard
Phragmites australis
European buckthorn
European lily of the valley
Japanese knotweed
Manitoba maple
Norway maple
These invasive species have a huge negative impact on Ontario's native species and some even cause damage to infrastructure. They outcompete native vegetation which alters ecological communities and leads to decline in biodiversity.
The government has not taken enough action on controlling invasive species. None of these should be sold or distributed and control should be strongly encouraged.
