Do not cancel the program. It was accomplishing good things that help to mitigate the province's contribution to climate change. I took advantage of one of the programs myself to help my 1855 heritage house become more energy efficient.
Federal Environment and Climate Change Minister Catherine McKenna announced on July 3 that the government would review $420 million in transfer payments earmarked for Ontario that it was previously eligible for through participating in the carbon sharing market. We have received almost $3 billion in a series of cap-and-trade auctions since the system was introduced. You're saying good-bye to this significant source of revenue while thumbing your nose at the enormous cost of climate change. This is costing, not saving taxpayers' dollars as you promised.
You talk about being "open for business," but want to close our borders to all the companies that were contributing.
