Nieuport Aviation owns and operates the passenger terminal at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport (BBTCA). BBTCA generates $2.1 billion in GDP each year through business and tourism (pre-Covid), with the potential to grow beyond that with key investments, such as the addition of a USCBP pre-clearance facility.
Nieuport has a keen interest in ensuring Provincial transit / transportation planning considers the city’s downtown airport as a key component of the long term, integrated transit plan. As a convenient choice for passengers, and to reduce vehicle congestion in the downtown core, Transit connection to the downtown airport is critical. BBTCA is focused on short-haul, business travel and are well positioned to contribute to the recovery of tourism economy (and beyond) in the GGH.
In the context of recently announced projects such as the new Ontario Line, Ontario Place Redevelopment and likely need to redevelop the Exhibition Go Station accordingly, we would request consideration of any potential transit solutions or last mile connections to the airport to achieve real connectivity and drive benefit to residents and visitors alike.
