I support the proposal to designate the Ostrander Point Crown Land Block and Provincial Wildlife Area as a conservation reserve.
I am concerned with the new opportunities for the public. Hiking, hunting, and bird-watching.
Hunters dressed in bright orange for safety and bird watchers in camouflage hoping not to be noticed. Isn't that a contradiction? One wants to preserve the other wants to kill. As a bird watcher I don't want to be in the line of fire. I think that your proposal is short sighted. As a frequent user of Point Petre, the beauty of the environment is the ruggedness. Small children and dogs accompany me when I go and I don't want to fear for the safety of my family.
Guns have no place in this conservation area.
