I believe the government must not repeal the existing provisions put in place to protect the environment without a concrete plan to replace them with. If the PC government believes that Cap and Trade are not working, they have a duty to fix it. At the same time, they also have a duty to preserve the environment in which we live in, and repealing one program without immediately instituting a more effective alternative does not accomplish that objective. My policy in life is that if you don't have a suggestion of how to fix a problem, you don't get to complain about it. The PC government is complaining about the ineffectiveness of Cap and Trade while offering no better solution to the problem of climate change. This is unacceptable. What is even more preposterous were the comments of the MPPs stating, more or less, 'The current solution can't fully accomplish its goal, a more extreme version of it is unacceptable, therefore we should just get rid of it.' This logic should not be applied to something as serious as the future of our province, country, and the planet. It is our duty to do everything we can to stop and reverse climate change, and I don't believe that's what this government is trying to do.
