Premier Ford,
I do not agree with Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018
As I watched you tour the devastated neighborhoods of Ottawa today, and pledge your support, I realized that this will become our future as climate change accelerates and I ask you to pledge to the PREVENTION of more extreme weather events.
By cancelling the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016 (CCMLEA) without anything else in place, Ontario will have no legislative framework to address climate change. We, as Ontarians, and Canadians, want to do our part to reduce carbon pollution as Canada agreed by signing the Paris Climate Agreement.
We are NOT interested in saving a few dollars now if it means that our children and grandchildren will have to bear the cost and burden of climate change with an economy based on non-renewable resources like oil, which run out or become prohibitively expensive, while harming the environment.
