Paterson Group Inc. has prepared the attached letter in response to the proposed pause of the excess soil requirements. Paterson’s position is based on professional experience and feedback from clients and partners. Paterson supports the pause in implementation; however we strongly feel the following must be addressed by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) during the pause:
- Regional study of elevated background metals concentrations for Eastern Ontario
- Assessing Naturally elevated hydrocarbons in shale and shale mixed with soil
- Refining project leader definition
- Additional outreach to stakeholders
