I have lived in Hamilton for 50 years. We raised our family here. I am appalled that your provincial government has the ability, and evidently the desire, to overturn City Council's decision regarding "no boundary expansion". This is not the way our democracy should work. Furthermore, the climate crisis is highlighting the need to maintain, not destroy, green spaces. There is a solid plan to add housing in Hamilton's already developed areas so I am not sympathetic to arguments that more housing beyond the boundary will help the housing shortage. Please, provincial leaders, turn your thinking around. Support "no boundary expansion" everywhere, but specifically in Hamilton, because it is what 90% of Hamiltonians who expressed an opinion want and because it is the right thing to do for our environment.
