I am legal counsel to the Block 41 Landowners Group Inc. (lands in Vaughan) and the Angus Glen Landowners' Group Inc. (lands in Markham). Both of these lands are within the Regional urban area. These lands applied for a Regional Official Plan Amendment to re-designate certain lands within the greenbelt river valley 'fingers' from Agricultural to Rural, as permitted by the Greenbelt Plan. That application was approved by the Region when it adopted ROPA 7 in October 2021. ROPA 7 is with Minister Clark awaiting a decision. In the interim the Region adopted its new Official Plan.
On behalf of my clients I request that Minister Clark modify and approve the Region's new Official Plan as proposed by the attachment. These two modifications track the language in ROPA 7 and place them into the appropriate locations in the Region's new Official Plan. A new map, Map 1A, is also proposed which identifies the ROPA 7 lands. These lands are identical to the ROPA 7 lands.
