Issues:
- The Bill disallows and dismisses all legal challenge to the Bill, and prevents all legal recourse that may be taken by anyone, including those whose legal contracts were cancelled.
- The Government has given itself first access to compensation for any costs incurred from the Bill, over and above any repayment to anyone who may have paid into it or contributed to it by offsetting CO2e
- There are no timelines, guidelines, targets or any other measurable included to indicate that Ontario will make any effort to offset its greenhouse contributions. Ontario's contributions, using figures from the WHO, IEA and Government of Canada, kill 600 -100 people per year worldwide.
- The Bill cancels a program that the science and economics indicated were working, and proposes nothing to take its place, much less improve on it. It is a clear expression of ideology over rationality. Experts from around the world were coming to Ontario to see our Cap and Trade at work.
- Read the Environmental Commissioner's report "Climate Action in Ontario: What's Next?" available on the web.
