It is no secret that the Earth is heading towards extreme warming and Ontario is already seeing the results in prolonged heat waves, intense storms, and flooding. I would expect the provincial government to do everything in their power to not worsen the disastrous effects of climate change. I am absolutely in shock when I read that they would like to remove parts of the green belt to build homes, and they think we will be okay with it because theyre promising to build land elsewhere. The land they are promising to build elsewhere should be built anyway AND they should not be removing parts of the green belt. That is what Ontario needs given the direction its headed in.

If you want land for housing please stay away from the GTA region and anything 200 km within it. The GTA is already experiencing detrimental air quality due to pollution, and extreme heat waves that are not safe. The GTA and surrounding does not need to be populated anymore than it already is. It needs to be cantered around making environment concerns #1 priority. I am in outrage at the thought of removing the land for houses.
