Have we learned nothing from our past mistakes? Sprawl makes communities unsustainable as the infrastructure for connecting utilities, road systems etc. is too expensive to provide and maintain. So this is only cheaper for the developers and, initially, the new homeowners.
Why don’t we instead focus on intensification? The province could do a lot more to get cities to intensify. E.g., Minneapolis does not allow the construction of single family dwellings anymore.
Let’s not continue to displace farmland and degrade our natural environment, and burden everyone with paying dearly afterwards, for short-term benefits.
