I think that re-designating the Green Belt for housing is a short sighted idea. We are continuing to sprawl and tear our wild and agricultural lands up but not using the space that we have. I live in Oshawa, Ontario and there are many spaces that could be used for high or mid rise buildings, but are currently vacant, abandoned or tear-down facilities. Why is this not being looked into? If we keep sprawling where is our wildlife supposed to go? Coyote sightings are 'on the rise' but we are constantly taking away their natural space. I think, if anything, green space needs to be maintained and protected so it can't get smaller for development. Think bigger picture and long term - use what we have.
