I recognize that we have a housing crisis in Ontario and the rest of Canada and we need bold actions to solve it. I also recognize and applaud the proposed addition of the Paris Gault Moraine to the Greenbelt. I am, however, firmly against the proposal to remove lands from the existing greenbelt and building housing on those lands. There is no reason we can't add the Paris-Gault Moraine while maintaining the protections for all the lands currently within the greenbelt AND still build the housing we need in Ontario.
If you decide to proceed with building homes on currently protected lands, please at least limit it to medium to high density development and ideally only on the lands in map 6 and map 2.
I want to express the strongest possible objection to the proposed amendment of the designation of lands in the Town of Grimsby at 502 Winston Rd. These lands MUST remain designated Natural Heritage System.
