Our housing woes will not be fixed by paving over important, protected greenbelt land. This greenbelt provides home and safety to a myriad of wildlife, insects, and flora that protect our health and our planet. Instead, please consider increasing density in the cities. There are a million other viable solutions groups like More Neighbours Toronto have studied and published that can solve the housing crunch without taking away the homes of Ontario wildlife.
The greenbelt also acts as “natural A/C”, keeping our planet cool and livable. We are at an official breaking point for Earth: nature is not healing. Removing this important land (nature!) is going to speed up the process. I understand many of the people involved in this proposal will likely not be around to see the destruction of our planet, but there are over 4 million children that will have to live with the consequences.
As a citizen and resident of this province, I beg you not to go through with the proposed changes to the Greenbelt Plan. If not for me, for the generations that will have to live without the safety and beauty of Ontario’s Greenbelt.
