This proposal is shortsighted, will exacerbate flooding issues in the watershed, and should not be in enacted when there are multiple options that allow Ontario to keep its greenbelt intact. Countless buildings, homes, and condo units sit empty in southern Ontario. Let's first look at getting these already existing housing options filled (by means of empty unit taxation), next look to revitalize area's where buildings have been abandoned (by incentivizing development in these areas), finally increase density in sprawling suburbs (by changing zoning codes) making them more walkable. I voted Liberal in the last election, but I would not be opposed to voting conservative in the next if this government shows that understands the value of our green spaces, local ecology, and sustainable development.
