Expanding the urban boundary of Hamilton after the council and citizens voted to maintain its existing boundaries is undemocratic and ignoring the desires of your populace. The consensus, which will be completely swept under the rug if these proposals go through, was to focus on urban density, not sprawl. The fact that the new proposal by the province also shatters the previous proposal by almost 1,000 extra hectares is inexcusable, and tone-deaf in the face of the proper democratic process. the provincial government should not be interfering with this municipal level decision.
