Not only did this government promise not to touch the greenbelt, but concerned citizens are all asking you to keep your hands off. Not only is sprawl not the answer to the housing crisis, but the greenbelt is essential to conserving vital ecosystems that contribute to the longevity of Ontario in our fight against climate change. The farmland that is being proposed for removal is also essential to Ontarians being able to produce food locally. If the supply chain issues of the past two years have shown us anything, it's that we cannot rely on other countries to provide what we need to feed ourselves. I am calling on this government to cease it's plans to develop any of the greenbelt and in fact it should also stop the plans to build highway 413 which would also pave over extremely important green space.
