It is important to build more affordable housing for the growing Ontario population, but this should not be done by bulldozing over the natural habitat of our land. More dense housing, middle housing to be exact, should be pursued over laying out hundreds of inefficient single-family homes. Taking housing out of the speculation market is another step that would give people more affordable homes. Better rent control and tenant rights would also help with temporary housing for those saving up for a home themselves. Building ineffective housing over our precious Greenbelt would be a disaster for ourselves, the environment, and would not even make a dent in the housing problem in the long-run.
