This act is absolutely disgusting and short-sighted. Destruction of significant wetlands, loss and farmland to grow food, and destruction of habitat all mean that this amendment should NOT go through.
Ontarians overwhelmingly love the greenbelt and do not want to see it destroyed. Yes, there are housing pressures; however, studies (including the government’s own!) have shown that this need could be met through intensification and densification, not destruction of precious and ecologically significant areas. This act does not benefit Ontarians; it benefits developers.
Ontarians do not want to see the greenbelt destroyed; preserving it should be the top priority.
