We need to be intensifying urban areas, not sprawling further out.
By building more middle and high density housing where it’s close enough to utilities that it is financially sustainable, we can simultaneously increase housing and the financial productivity of our land.
Sprawling into the green belt not only destroys nature, it also creates an enormous money-sink as we struggle to subsidize utilities for these people who won’t pay enough in taxes to afford them by themselves.
Expanding into the green belt is a terrible idea and destroys one of the greatest natural assets we have in Ontario. Make cities more dense instead.
