This violates the integrity of the greenbelt lands. Further, it would set a precedent for switching out other parcels of greenbelt land to developers with a bottom-line focus. The intent should remain keeping intact a contiguous set of lands that have a broader net benefit for people and the environment.
Housing is important but further development should be considered for cities and towns further out into the Golden Horseshoe. This has to be done in conjunction with an economic development strategy that sees nodes of manufacturing and technological expertise -- and therefore employment -- brought to locations other than the GTA.
