I'm writing to urge the Government of Ontario in the strongest possible terms NOT TO GO AHEAD WITH ITS PLAN TO DEVELOP THE GREEN BELT. The fifteen areas under review together form a hugely important bulwark against urban sprawl in the Golden Horseshoe and the negative environmental and climate repercussions that inevitably follow from such sprawl. This government has promised in the past that it would not allow further development of the Green belt, and the people of this province expect that commitment to be honoured. We all know there is a housing crisis, but there is copious evidence to suggest that the 50,000-home target that the government has identified can be achieved without further destroying the few environmental assets remaining in southern Ontario.
