"The people have spoken — we won't touch the Greenbelt. Very simple. That's it, the people have spoken. I'm going to listen to them. They don't want me to touch the Greenbelt, we won't touch the Greenbelt," Ford said in a statement.
This is a statement by premier Ford in 2018. Now what makes anyone think that the "people" now approve of building on the greenbelt??
I suggest that nothing has changed in the minds of Ontario residents.
The decision to maintain the Greenbelt is good public policy. Intact, this land provides watershed protection, homes for wildlife of all kinds and green space for tourism and public appreciation. It is there to be left alone.
Many smaller communities throughout Ontario can be tagged to build new housing - that is not a problem, and that is the answer to new immigration and the high cost of buying a home.
You cannot make this mistake.
