We should focus on building up/intensifying and improving our existing municipal boundaries before we even consider building into our natural, conservation land or farmlands. I'm a landscape designer and come across countless new subdivisions with clients who are struggling with flooding due to them being built on flood plains. How do we expect building on wetlands to be any different? These lands prevent many municipalities from flooding, building over that will only push the water towards our municipalities. Not to mention all the habitat loss that will happen within these extremely bio-diverse lands. Also, how do we expect to feed all of our people if we get rid of important farmland? I understand they want to add more greenbelt elsewhere, which is cool but, why change the Greenbelt when we can just improve what we already have first. All this money could even be used to improve transportation systems, especially with linking the GTA to more southern or Northern areas (now that greyhound is gone, there's barely a connection to get from Guelph down to Woodstock or London without the Via Rail).

There are much better solutions around than to build upon our most precious lands. We don't have enough of these lands and shouldn't take them for granted.
