It is unfathonable that in this day and age, with all of the indesputable evidence that climate change is occuring, that our anthropogenic emissions are what is driving it, and that renewable technologiez have a role to play, this government is ignoring its obligations to act. Citizens, communities, corporate leaders and municipalities are acting - and yet this government is choosing to do nothing but abandon its obligations to act, and instead, dismantle.
What is even more shocking, the adoption of renewable energy in favour of emitting technologies aligns with conservative values: It redistributes corporate wealth to communities, empowers individuals and communities to take charge of their own energy futures and makes economic sense - wind (and increasingly solar) is the cheapest form of new capacity that can be built today...why abandon something that is a triple bottom line benefit for our province: socially, economically and sustainably.
Please do not gut our strong climate plans and roll us back - the clean economy is there for us to grasp it with both hands - we just need the political fortitude to do so, that I am confident this government has.
Respectfully yours.
