The protected green space is central to the health and well-being of our living environment and air quality. We are already subjected to increased air pollution with the multitude of vehicle emissions, maintaining the green space affords the balance of the trees to clean the air, ensures protection of the ecosystems of animal and plant systems alike and is the natural element that contributes to our health and well-being.
There must be other places. It’s time that other opportunities are explored. Encroachment on the green space should remain forbidden.
New constructions should be required to incorporate renewable energy sources and provide for proliferation of natural animal and plant life in the same spaces.
If there’s not enough space reduce the size of houses that can be built to maximize the total. Sacrifices need made for essentials. But the natural green spaces our province boasts does for all at no cost. It’s time it is valued for the gift it is, the environmental job it does, and the natural balance it provides.
Development on the green belt should not be allowed before retrofitting of unused/underused pre-existing structures are exhausted.
