Opening up the green belt for development is one of the worst things we could be doing at a time like this. To be able to get through this climate crisis and meet the current demands for housing, we need intensification, not sprawl. We need to preserve local ecosystems and build walkable cities, where people can live healthy, fulfilling lives.
This proposal sets us up for the exact opposite—more pollution, more environmental destruction, and an overall worse quality of life for everyone (except perhaps the very rich). It seems the intention is to help no one except for Doug Ford’s developer friends.
