The proposal to use areas of the Greenbelt to build new, primarily low-density housing is absolutely preposterous. This undermines the entire point of having a Greenbelt and goes against Premier Doug Ford's 2018 promise to not "touch" it. These parts of Ontario have been deemed as significant to the ecological health of our province. In this time of mounting catastrophic climate-related disasters—which Doug Ford and his government are resolutely ignoring or actively contributing to—it is reprehensible to try to push through plans to convert Greenbelt land into new construction housing. Certainly there are more responsible and cost effective ways to increase housing in Ontario. This amendment plan only serves to put money into the hands of the rich developers whom Doug affiliates with. Do not allow this plan to move forward.
