Again, this proposed law, Bill 23, abandons the environmental protections that have served Ontario well. I support the arguments outlined in the letter by the Ottawa Riverkeeper, dated November 17 2022 to Ms. Laurie Scott, Chair of the Standing Committee on Heritage, Infrastructure and Cultural Policy, concerning Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act 2022.
Ottawa has sufficient land to build more homes without enfringing on conservation areas, wetlands, farmlands or greenbelts. Once built upon, they are lost forever. The proposal also work against the Ottawa official plan and increases the infrastructure costs to the city.
