I find it concerning that the focus is on destroying valuable ecosystems that are crucial for our beleaguered wildlife and in some cases act as a buffer for potential climate catastrophes. The world is only going to get worse and we should be focusing on preserving the minimal good that we have left. This is especially troubling when one only has to take a cursory glance at all of the empty buildings (both commercial and residential) that are just sitting in various downtown cores within the GTA (and realistically all over major metropolitan areas in Ontario). Why not use these buildings for low income, high density housing? Or is that too sensible an idea for a government that continues to strip away the very fabric of democracy?
