Bill 23 needs much more consultation on much of the proposed legislation. It is a sweeping bill that threatens to drastically change the safeguards set up by our municipalities to safeguard not only our historic properties but our expectations for our communities. The people asked for more affordable housing for low income and seniors and what we are getting is more housing. Housing needs to fit the demands of the neighbourhood, not the government. This is not about putting houses wherever, just for the sake of building more. While we need to lessen the red tape, not involving neighbourhoods to have a say in implementation goes against our expectations for a democratic process.
