Proposed Amendments to the Greenbelt Plan 019-6216
I oppose this proposal. The Greenbelt was established to protect valuable agricultural lands and natural heritage. This proposal will impact that stated goal and provide huge profits to developers. Internationally, we see climate change impacting the world’s capability to feed itself, this proposal would increase that impact to Ontarians and Canadians as a whole.
The Government states that only land adjacent to developed land would be impacted (initially), I would point out that something will always be adjacent to the Greenbelt and little of the subject lands were adjacent to developed land when the Greenbelt was first established. This would indicate that the goal of the Greenbelt Act was successful!
Again I state that I am opposed to the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt Plan.
