This is to voice my objection to the proposed changes to the greenbelt that would take some lands out of the existing greenbelt. No land that is currently (as of November 28, 2022) should be taken out. Please add lands.
The changes are being touted as necessary because of a perceived housing crisis. The crisis is about housing affordability, not necessarily numbers. Changes to the greenbelt that allows further urban sprawl provides no net benefit to the citizens of Ontario or the natural environment.
The proposed changes only serve to benefit those investors that speculated on developing lands and taking them out of agriculture.
Please focus on lands currently outside of the greenbelt for development, like the premier of ontario said he would: "unequivocally".
