I am opposed to the government's proposal to remove or redesignate 15 areas of land totaling approximately 7,400 acres from the edge of the Greenbelt Area that are serviced or adjacent to services. I do not feel that the government should be selling this land to developers to build housing, when there are other options they could and should be considering. If the land is removed from the Greenbelt, it will never return. It's not just about numbers of acres added or subtracted, but it is about where the land is located. Given the climate crisis coming our way, the government should be forward thinking and thinking about sustainable development, not taking away protected areas from the greenbelt.
