This bill cuts $73 million from emergency shelters, $230 million in development charges, largely earmarked for affordable housing, and will convert affordable apartments into luxury condos.
Not to mention the callout in your summary of "benefits for developers"... Specifically those this government tipped-off about the Greenbelt slice-up who are immediately gaining a fortune on their insider trade.
This whole plan is a massive wealth transfer to the well-off, with a transfer of future tax burden to communities in the GTA who have to come up with increased revenues to fund the infrastructure needed for all the unaffordable housing that'll be built on the Greenbelt.
There's been plenty of criticism lobbed at this lazy piece of legislation and nothing from the government - just silence - on how to mitigate any of these issues.
