This plan goes directly against promises made by the government to leave the Greenbelt as a protected space. One acre of land is not equal to another and can’t simply be swapped out, there are important differences in the ecosystems, landscape placement/configuration, plant and animal species etc. With the overwhelming evidence showing increases in global temperatures and natural disasters you would think conservation would be top of mind but this plan smells like corruption and a way to help landowners turn a profit. There are SO many ways to address the housing crisis that don’t involve paving over protected land. Keep your promises.
