I strongly urge the province to reconsider the proposed changes under Bill 23. Please halt the implementation of the proposals in order to address concerns being identified by organizations, individuals like myself and the municipalities of Ontario.
I echo and stand firmly in support behind the comments and recommendations submitted by CELA around four major areas of concern:
1. The need for climate-safe communities.
2. The need to preserve the essential roles of conservation authorities and upper-tier municipalities in protecting water and natural heritage.
3. The need for robust community engagement.
4. The need for affordable, equitable quality housing supply.
It is my belief that the implementation of the proposed changes under Bill 23 is extremely short-sighted and will do nothing but compound the impacts of the current financial and climate crises we are facing.
