Bill 23 is as blatant as political corruption can get. It doesn’t take a genius to look at the big donors to the CPC, the donors that recently bought land in a protected area for approx. $80 million at high interest rates, and then look at a Bill that doesn’t absolutely NOTHING for general Canadians besides destroy their farmland, up their property taxes, and ruin the last bits of environment protected in southern Ontario, and figure out that something is up.
This all comes immediately after the citizens of Ontario have been told by Ford that they will not touch the Greenbelt. This government has done nothing but work against the people it pretends to support, and it’s a disgrace. If the Ford government was capable of feeling shame for the constant lies and dietruction they cause, then they’d be as sick to their stomach as I am watching it take place.
I can’t believe all we have left to do as citizens is make small ‘amendments’ to a Bill that is so blatantly against all of us (including the endangered wildlife and ecosystems). This Bill should be thrown in the gutter along with Bill 124 and all the countless useless highway projects this sorry excuse for a government has initiated.
I get the CPC’s model is how to make the rich richer (something some voter bases have a hard time understanding), but for once show some compassion to the average citizen and the environment we live alongside. You must STOP treating the people and the environment like a massive obstacle that you need to step on so you can complete your poorly thought out projects that are surrounded by corruption. The CPC couldn’t even be bothered to consult with the indigenous communities prior to passing this Bill, which is disgraceful and cowardly. The housing crisis and environment/climate change is already an insane obstacle for the youth to overcome, and all Bill 23 does is make both worse so the CPC and their developer buddies can buy a nicer truck.
Have some shame, have some compassion, and prove you aren’t spineless, corrupt cowards. Repeal Bill 23.
