I think it is wrong on very short sighted to remove any land from the greenbelt. Not only will this contribute to urban sprawl and more carbon in our atmosphere as precious green space is covered with suburban homes, driveways and roads, it will also remove areas of wildlife habitat and healthy recreation opportunities in the GTA as well as removing top grade agricultural land from our food supply network.
The proposal also smacks of political corruption. Well connected 'developers' with considerable donations to the Ontario PC party have acquired large tracts of land in anticipation of this announcement.
This deal smells bad. Please don't do it.
