While I appreciate the proposal to expand the overall area of the greenbelt to offset the proposed removals; I don't think this is the best approach as it could send the message that the shape/locations of the greenbelt could change at whim as long as the overall area expands. It is my opinion that it is best to leave most (if not all) of the greenbelt area as is and expand on that, rather than removing large portions and replacing them with others.
There are still many areas in the golden horseshoe that I don't believe are protected by the greenbelt and I question why the province wants to develop the greenbelt instead of these other areas. Removing portions of the greenbelt should be an absolute last resort, which I don't believe we have reached.
