Protected features near the Greater Golden Horseshoe should not be the first priority for development. The Oak Ridges Moraine and the Greenbelt are to be protected in perpetuity, not discarded for the sake of building up conveniently located open space. We should not be aspiring to greater urban sprawl.
Furthermore, exchanging protected lands into different designations does not create a net gain of protected lands. Removing land from the Oak Ridges Moraine and Greenbelt and "replacing" them with lands under other conservation measures results in a net loss and a great destruction of natural infrastructure and heritage.
