The lands protected from development in the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan Area were designated to protect the water source for many headwater streams flowing into Lake Ontario. The area is ecologically significant with diverse habitats for many endangered species. The Oak Ridges Moraine, needs continued protection and should not be sacrificed for development which should be contained to existing urban boundaries.
