As a born and raised Ontarian, I am deeply concerned about the Proposed Amendments to the Greenbelt Plan. Not only should more effort be put into increasing density and improving infrastructure in already developed areas, but the negative impacts on Ontario’s environment will be lasting. These areas must be protected for the sake of the local wildlife, native vegetation and overall climate. I have yet to see evidence that developing on the Greenbelt, and furthering the sprawl, will lead to a better Ontario for all taxpayers and not just the developers. I urge that alternatives are sought for the development of new homes in Ontario -- whether that be adding low and mid-rises to developed ares or exploring areas further North and investing in infrastructure and businesses outside the GTHA that will minimize the need for commuting into Toronto. Thank you.
