As an affordable housing advocate I am absolutely opposed to increased suburban development that costs the city more to service and build infrastructure than it does to provide an appreciable difference to vulnerable sectors most in need of housing. These will be big suburban houses. Why are we not increasing density in parts of the city already accessible by public transit? Why would any government knowingly choose to further compromise the natural resources and green spaces we know our planet requires to survive? Personal gain and greed should not drive policy. We need a government that is willing to take bold steps to solve the housing crisis for high, medium, low and no income families, not just the already financially advantaged that can afford to live anywhere. And only thirty days to consider this proposal - that’s ridiculous! Please give concerned citizens the time to do their homework.
