There is, in my opinion, so much wrong and disappointing, and angering about this proposal. The current provincial government was elected with the hope they would help Ontario move forward--instead, they appear to have declared war on the environment and those trying their level best to move the world one inch in the right direction.

Why is the Ford government taking us backwards by attempting to eliminate the cap and trade system, with no existing proposal or plan in place? Cap and trade is far from perfect but it is something, a start. It is an opportunity to grow with half a thumb in the dam. Should this be eliminated, especially without something better designed to replace it, I don't see much hope for Canadians, let alone Ontarians, to take action while there is still time.

No matter where civilians of any country of the world stand, I wish everyone could picture the same thing: bring something to mind you'd like to make a decision about. Maybe that's purchasing a new car or home; maybe that's going to the grocery store for dinner items; maybe it's something as monumental as climate change, or an item like the economy or infrastructure. Now picture yourself making that decision without an atmosphere. Doesn't seem to matter as much anymore, does it? Nothing else matters if we cannot survive on our planet because of poor and poorly timed decisions made by brash politicians trying to juggernaut their way into good favour with people who would see us all to ruin, anyway.

If the climate is not a priority, the only priority right now, we are doomed. Without an atmosphere, clean air, water, soil, and biodiversity, nothing else matters and this cannot be put off. Eliminating cap and trade should not even be discussed. Focusing on controlled decline of a sunset industry and advancing and integrating renewable energy should.
