We need to protect the Greenbelt, and find an affordable housing plan that actually helps with the affordable housing crisis.
The climate crisis is the biggest issue of our time, and Bill 23 makes it worse. Building over the greenbelt will destroy carbon sinks, increase flood risks, increase traffic and car dependence, and eliminate many green building standards. This is the opposite direction of where we need to be heading!
We need to build within urban centres and there is enough space to do so. This allows people to access what they need with walking, biking and public transit.
We need more affordable housing, not more unaffordable housing in the suburbs.
